What is Morpheus?
Morpheus is an innovative new treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy to remodel deep tissues through microneedling. Microneedling works by creating tiny channels in the skin which jumpstart the skin’s rejuvenation processes— this technique is called collagen induction therapy (CIT). The Morpheus handpiece contains microneedles that emit RF energy to tighten and rejuvenate the skin, enhancing collagen production and tissue regeneration. Morpheus can be used on the face and body for effective, renewing results that reach deep into the skin for the treatment of moderate wrinkles and folds, acne scars, and skin tone concerns.
Am I a Candidate for Morpheus?
The best candidates for Morpheus are patients looking for non-surgical skin tightening and remodeling treatments for wrinkles and folds. During a consultation with our laser technicians, we can determine whether Morpheus is your best option or whether a surgical procedure will be able to produce your intended results. Many candidates for Morpheus benefit from additional non-surgical treatments for best results, and we can create the right treatment package for you using our best options. Morpheus can be customized to the exact depth needed for the treatment of your unique skin concerns.
Morpheus requires a quick and easy treatment session performed in our Cary office. We apply a topical anesthetic so that you’re comfortable and relaxed throughout the procedure. After preparing your skin, the handpiece is applied to your treatment areas. The Morpheus handpiece contains gold-coated pins, which penetrate the skin and tighten the deep tissues by emitting radiofrequency energy. Morpheus uses bipolar radiofrequency technology, meaning the energy passes between two poles in the handpiece. We use different tip options depending on the treatment area: a 12 Pin tip for smaller areas, a 24 Pin tip (our most commonly used) for standard treatments, and a 40 Pin tip for larger body areas. For enhanced healing and results, we also offer PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatments, which promote faster recovery and boost collagen production for improved skin rejuvenation. Once the treatment is complete, active ingredients can be applied for increased absorption deep in the skin. Overall, Morpheus can take less than an hour to complete, depending on your treatment areas.
What Can I Expect After Morpheus?
After treatment, you can expect redness and sensitivity, which subside quickly. There’s no downtime required after Morpheus, although you should be sure to keep the treatment area protected with sunscreen. Our laser technicians can ensure you know which skincare products to avoid as your skin recovers. Most patients benefit from a package of regular treatments for best results, and we can create the right treatment plan for you during a consultation. Frequently Asked Questions
What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus is a highly-effective microneedling procedure that uses radio-frequency (RF) energy to improve texture, stimulate collagen production, and tighten the skin.
What can be treated?
Morpheus8 is an excellent option for patients that are concerned with skin laxity, fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, and scarring. Furthermore, Morpheus is very effective at treating active acne and acne scarring, as it decreases sebum production from overactive sebaceous glands.
Why should I consider Morpheus?
Morpheus can improve anything related to texture or tightening. This includes fine lines, deep creases, pores, scars, stretch marks, general aging, and jowling. Morpheus is even used to treat and prevent breakouts related to cystic acne. It may improve the appearance of brown spots; however, pigment-related concerns are typically best treated with alternative procedures such as IPL (Lumecca) which can be discussed during your consultation.
How long do results last?
Since Morpheus stimulates collagen production, results are considered long-lasting. However, the aging process will continue so many patients choose to receive maintenance treatments every two years. You can extend the life of your results by avoiding excessive sun exposure, wearing SPF 30 or higher daily, adhering to a good skincare routine, staying hydrated, and incorporating other treatments such as Botox to slow the aging process.
Are there any new treatments for hyperhidrosis?
Previously, many patients would opt for Botox to the axillary regions to address hyperhidrosis. While an effective and proven treatment option, this treatment does not address the root of the problem, nor does it offer a permanent solution.
How often should I get treatments?
We recommend patients get treatments every 4-6 weeks. This time allows the skin to adequately heal between treatments. After a full regimen, which is usually 3-5 treatments, many patients opt for an annual treatment for maintenance purposes.
Is Morpheus only for the face and neck?
No - Morpheus is approved to treat all body areas including the chest, arms, back, abdomen, buttocks, thighs, etc. Many patients even like to treat the back of their hands. If you are interested in addressing large body areas, we advise scheduling treatment under light anesthesia to reduce discomfort. Also, please keep in mind that other procedures may be recommended in conjunction with - or instead of - Morpheus to give you the best result!
Is Morpheus8 for hyperhidrosis permanent?
Yes, results from your Morpheus8 treatment for hyperhidrosis are considered permanent.
How many treatments do I need to treat hyperhidrosis with Morpheus8 ?
Many patients will find that one treatment can dramatically reduce their excessive sweating. However, the best results may take anywhere between 1-3 treatment sessions.
Is it painful?
Our providers will apply a strong numbing cream to the treatment area/s for one hour prior to the procedure. Additionally, nitrous oxide or laughing gas will be provided during the procedure to further improve your experience. Most patients express moderate discomfort during treatment, but every patient is different. We are also pleased to offer Morpheus under anesthesia in our OR for an additional fee.*
How many treatments will I need?
We recommend at least 3 treatment sessions performed about 3-8 weeks apart. However, more treatments may be recommended for best results.
When will I see results?
Although improvement in texture will be seen after a few weeks, the final tightening results take 3-6 months to be achieved.
What will I look like afterwards?
The treatment areas may appear red (like a sunburn) and slightly puffy. You may have pin-point scabbing, grid-marks or areas of demarcation where the handpiece was used for 1-3 days after the procedure. We will apply an occlusive healing balm to the treatment areas after your procedure, so your skin may appear shiny. Mild bruising is possible but not common. Certain areas, such as the neck, might be slightly bumpy and itchy for a couple of weeks which is normal.
Does Morpheus8 help with hyperhidrosis?
Yes, Morpheus8 is an effective treatment for hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. Morpheus8 works to desensitize the sweat glands by using a combination of radiofrequency heat energy and microneedling.
Is Morpheus8 for hyperhidrosis painful?
With the proper technique, treatment can be a relatively comfortable experience. The treatment area will be numbed with an injectable anesthetic before the procedure, making for an overall more effective treatment.
Can anyone get Morpheus?
With a few small exceptions, most people may receive Morpheus treatments. The settings are adjusted and customized based on your skin type and goals. All patients are carefully screened and educated prior to treatment to ensure they are good candidates. However, individuals with a gold allergy cannot receive treatment due to the handpiece's gold-plated tips.
How long does it take?
The total treatment time will depend on how many areas are treated, and the size of each area. After numbing for one hour, most treatments take 45 minutes to 1 hour. We typically tell our patients to plan to be in our office for approximately 2.5 hours on the day of treatment.
When can I go back to work?
You may resume all normal activities immediately after treatment including light exercise. Most patients feel comfortable returning to work within 1-3 days after most of the redness has resolved.
How much dose Morpheus8 for hyperhidrosis cost?
Typical costs for Morpheus8 for hyperhidrosis can range anywhere between $1000-$1300 per treatment.
How long do the results of Morpheus8 last for hyperhidrosis?
You can expect your results to be permanent since Morpheus8 targets the root of the problem causing excessive sweating.
What is Morpheus8 for Body with PRP, and how does it work?
Morpheus8 for Body is a cutting-edge, non-surgical treatment that combines microneedling and radiofrequency energy to tighten skin, reduce fat, and improve overall skin texture. When paired with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma), the body’s natural growth factors enhance healing, collagen production, and skin rejuvenation, delivering faster and more noticeable results.
How long does a Morpheus8 with PRP treatment session typically last?
A typical session lasts between 60–90 minutes, depending on the treatment area and the individual’s needs.
Are there any side effects or downtime associated with Morpheus8 and PRP combined treatments?
Morpheus8 with PRP is minimally invasive, and side effects are usually mild, such as redness, swelling, or tenderness, which typically resolve within a few days. Downtime is minimal and usually lasts 1–3 days.
How many Morpheus8 with PRP sessions are typically recommended for optimal results?
Most patients benefit from a series of 3–4 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart. However, your provider will create a personalized treatment plan based on your goals and skin condition.
Can Morpheus8 with PRP be used on all skin types and body areas?
Yes, Morpheus8 with PRP is safe for all skin types and can be used on most body areas, including the abdomen, thighs, arms, above the knees, buttocks, and more. It’s highly effective for addressing loose skin, stretch marks, and even improving the appearance of cellulite. By tightening the skin and stimulating collagen production, it helps reduce dimpling and enhances overall skin texture and smoothness.
How does Morpheus8 with PRP enhance facial rejuvenation compared to traditional treatments?
Morpheus8 with PRP offers deeper skin transformation. It combines microneedling with RF energy to go beyond the surface, targeting deeper layers of the skin where collagen is rebuilt and remodeled for long-term tightening and smoothing. PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) supercharges this process by using your body’s natural growth factors to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation, and deliver faster, more dramatic results compared to traditional treatments that focus only on the skin's surface.
What specific skin concerns can Morpheus8 with PRP address on the face?
Morpheus8 with PRP targets it all. Fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity, sagging & crepey skin, acne scars, large pores, uneven texture & skin tone, dull skin, and sun damage — all addressed simultaneously for a total skin remodeling.
How long do the results of Morpheus8 with PRP for facial treatments typically last?
Results are impressive and long-lasting. After just one series of treatments, results can last 12-18 months, depending on your skin type, age, and skincare regimen. PRP further amplifies collagen production, helping maintain a firmer, smoother complexion even longer. Maintenance treatments can extend results even further.
Is there any downtime associated with Morpheus8 and PRP facial treatments?
There’s minimal downtime. Expect just some redness, slight swelling, and mild skin sensitivity for 2-4 days, with faster healing thanks to PRP’s regenerative properties. With proper post-care, most patients can resume normal activities within a few days while PRP continues to speed up healing and maximize results.
How many Morpheus8 with PRP treatments are typically recommended for optimal facial rejuvenation?
For maximum skin tightening and rejuvenation, 3-4 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart are typically recommended. Annual maintenance treatments can help sustain long-term results, keeping your skin looking youthful while slowing down the inevitable aging process.
